Pain Management
Research has shown the significant effect that chronic pain can inflict on quality of life, with widespread pain such as fibromyalgia and lower back pain having a more pronounced debilitating effect than localised pain such as headaches.¹
Acu-ease’s gold standard of treatment provides you with the following:
Objective |
Benefit |
|
| Identify the underlying nature of the pain. | → | Addresses the cause of pain, rather than the symptoms. |
| Facilitate the body’s natural pain management response by releasing norepinephrine, acetylcholine and several other types of natural opioids and effecting changes in the autonomic nervous system. | → | Alleviates pain and reduces your dependence on analgesics and anti-inflammatory drugs [50][51][52][53][54][55] |
| Stimulate the body’s auto-immune response. | → | Improves the body’s capacity to heal and re-generate. |
| May improve the body's ability to maintain wellbeing and homeostasis. | → | By facilitating balances in your meridian system we are able to reduce the likelihood of your problem affecting another aspect of your health.[48] |
| Boost your physical ability to cope with pain. | → | Strengthens your digestion, which means more energy and less nausea from medications. This is especially useful for Chronic Pain. |
| Boost your psychological ability to cope with pain. | → | Improves your mental and emotional capacity to manage and recover from pain. This is especially useful for Chronic Pain. |
Our Techniques
Acu-ease uses the following techniques to alleviate pain and discomfort.
General Acupuncture: Tiny, single use, sterile needles are gently placed into specific Acupuncture Points in areas in your body’s Meridians to stimulate the release of natural opioids and reduce pain.
Moxibustion: The dried leaf of the herb mugwort is compressed into a stick and burned at a safe distance from the skin to radiantly warm specific acupuncture points.
Electro-acupuncture: Acupuncture points are gently stimulated with a mild electrical current.
Acupressure/Tuina: This is a massage technique that uses fingertips and a variety of other implements to facilitate the flow of Qi (energy) through Muscles and Joints.
Cupping: Glass cups are used to create a vacuum in order to improve circulation, reduce tension and clear fluid congestion.
Rehabilitation: Using a variety of both eastern and western based rehabilitation exercises, we make sure that your musculoskeletal issue stays better after we have dealt with the pain and disability.
Nutritional Supplements: Minerals are essential for health and wellbeing. They provide structural support in bones and teeth, and they maintain the body's acid/base and water balance, nerve activity, muscular activity, energy production and enzyme reactions.
Chinese Nutritional Supplements: Chinese nutritional supplements may be prescribed, either on their own or alongside other therapies, to treat a range of symptoms and conditions.
Oriental Counselling: Oriental Counselling applies age-old principles to enhance your conscious understanding of mental and emotional states and their effects on your physical well-being.
Neuro-Linguistic Therapy: The NLP therapeutic process gives you cognitive tools to increase your ability to manage pain.
Em-Wave Therapy: Em-wave therapy teaches you how to breathe effectively to increase coherence between the sympathetic and para-sympathetic nervous systems.
